Fifth season of electric winches
What is good about electric winches?
They need no maintenance. At most, blow the dust off.
The fifth season is coming to an end.
We have revolutionised winch building. Our winches have reached a new technical level.
End-to-end 3D modelling, CNC manufacturing, fully repeatable and interchangeable parts — these are no longer one-off home-built machines, but well-engineered production units.
The winches are now electric and battery-powered — no noise, no fumes. They have also become robots that make towing as easy as possible for both the operator and the pilot.
A new-generation electric winch for towing solo and tandem paragliders.
One powerful motor, a controller with a large current margin, a single belt, line spooling by a closed-loop servo system: maintenance is kept to a minimum.
Water-cooled controllers and motors — the ideal choice for large clubs and continuous, reliable operation in any weather.
The battery is enough to tow 50 tandems or 100 solo pilots in calm air.
These are the hardest conditions: the stronger the wind, the less energy is used and the more tows you can do. The battery can be recharged from a small 2…3 kW inverter generator while the winch is working. In that case the number of tows is unlimited. You simply cannot run the battery flat.
The TANDEM v4 works well together with a SOLO used as a payout winch. Pilots can then do step tows, climbing in both directions.
The throughput of a winch and return winch set depends on the team's enthusiasm, the weather and the share of step tows. 20 launches an hour are easy. Our record is 60 launches in 2.5 hours for regular pilots, and 110 launches in three hours with low tows at a spot-landing competition.
The winch is a robot. It holds the set pull regardless of drum speed, automatically damps line oscillations and smooths out rough handle inputs from the operator. It is much like cruise control in a car: you set the pull, and the robot takes care of the rest.

A winch for independent free flying. 10 kW, up to 85 kg of line pull.
Compact and extremely easy to use. Supports step tows. 700+ metres in any flyable weather. Your springboard to the clouds!

SOLO can also be used as a return winch for step towing. Solo pilots then climb in both directions, and tandems do not lose height when flying back towards the launch.

Reverse is a winch for fast, automatic line retrieval back to the launch. Its 5 kW peak power lets it tow the pilot towards the launch during step towing. Step tows like this are far more efficient.
Recommended for use with a tandem winch or with older hydraulic winches.
If you need 100+ tows a day, this is the right choice.
Together with SOLO, this payout winch can tow the pilot downwind without losing height, or even with a slight climb.

We have experience applying our winches and building specialised devices for other tasks:

In the Altai Republic, an industrial drone pulled a power line across the Biya River and a federal highway — a span of 806 metres. It is the first power line in Russia built this way. The ropes were paid out by our smallest return winch, REVERSE light, with tension control, so no rope touched an obstacle.
Pilots share what a one-kilometre tow feels like (in Russian).
While testing the SOLO winch, we towed pilots to over 1000 metres. The best result was 1217 metres on a 1500 metre line.
